Communal Garden Awards

Wicklow County Council hosted a lovely evening in February at the County Buildings for the County Tidy Towns event.  The school were delighted to win the school communal garden section and were presented with €400.00.

The judges visited the garden during the summer and were impressed with the variety of produce planted by the children, the pond, the biodiversity and the practical science offered to the children.  They also took into account the fact that we have an Open Day selling produce and the co-operation of the parents who water and tend to it over the summer months.

We will spend the winnings on further developing our garden to enhance the learning experience of the children.

Thank you to all parents who have given their time freely to help out in the garden.  It is only with your help that all this is possible for our children.

A special thank you to our wonderful adviser and educator in organic gardening Wendy Nairn.  The children learn a lot of long term skills from her.
